Senegalezul Pape Diouf, fost preşedinte al clubului francez de fotbal Olympique Marseille, a încetat din viaţă la 68 de ani, fiind victima noului coronavirus, a anunţat familia sa, citată de AFP.
Diouf a fost internat într-un spital din Dakar şi urma să fie adus la Nisa (sud-estul Franţei) cu un zbor special, pus la dispoziţie de ambasada Franţei în Senegal. Starea lui s-a degradat, însă, iar avionul nu a mai putut decola, astfel că fostul oficial a decedat pe pământ senegalez. Moartea sa a fost confirmată de postul public de televiziune din Senegal, RTS.
Fost jurnalist, agent de jucători şi apoi conducătorul clubului Olympique Marseille, între 2005 şi 2009, Pape Diouf a contribuit la clădirea echipei care a câştigat campionatul Franţei în 2010, după 17 ani fără titluri pentru gruparea din sudul Franţei.
